Methoxyacetophenone is a food flavoring permitted by national regulations, with colorless to slightly yellow crystal blocks and sensitivity to light. Soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in water. Freezing point>36 ℃, flash point>93.5 ℃, soluble in 5 volumes of 50% ethanol and oily spices. There is a sweet fennel bean aroma, with hints of hawthorn, mimosa, and sunflower flowers. The aroma is rough but long-lasting.

P-Methoxyacetophenone is mainly used in hawthorn flower, acacia, mimosa, locust, myrtle, blue heart orchid, new cut grass, clover and other scents. It has high stability in soap and is commonly used in high-class cosmetics such as herbal fragrance, woody fragrance and soap essence. But it is generally recommended to share with anisaldehyde and anisol. It can also be used as the harmonious aroma of fennel and bean, and is widely used in the formulation of various essence, as well as in the flavor types of edible essence such as cream, nuts, tobacco sugar, chocolate, fresh fruits, nuts, vanilla beans, and tobacco essence. It is also used in the production of sunscreen agents, p-methoxyphenylacetic acid (an intermediate of puerarin), p-methoxy styrene, and liquid crystal monomers.
